Furlough Days, revisited

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I recently wrote  the Governor:

“It is the belief of ColoradoLoses that the governor chose the Friday before most holidays for Furlough Days so that employees would not have the opportunity to take three days off and get a 5-day vacation.  We would like to have the governor comment on this topic.”

…let’s see if he will respond.  This was a question brought up by a fellow loser…Thanks, sir…great question!

UPDATE: The Governor has failed to respond…so, I guess my concept struck too close to the bone and must be true.

LOSES WINS BIG!

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

WINS held their 3rd Labor and Employment “Budget” informational meeting at the unemployment office this week.

Last week, after the last meeting, I sent an email, via ColoradoLoses, to Glenda Barry, the HR manager, and complained about the “solicitation for membership” at the “informational meeting.”  WELL…We were heard.

Glenda Barry apologized to us that the last meeting had “got off track” and at this most recent meeting…WINS was not permitted to mention the concept of “organizing” to the crowd.

They were a bit upset.  They told Ron Minks, the building manager, “that ColoradoLoses guy complained about our meeting last week.”  Ron told them, “Yes he did, and he was right!”  End of conversation!

You, too, can put a stop to Colorado WINS and their sneaky tactics of using “informational meetings” as membership seminars.  Don’t be afraid to SPEAK BOLDLY!

WE STOPPED WINS!!!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

ColoradoWINS showed up for their 3rd and last “budget” meeting at the unemployment office today.  After filing a complaint with HR, they were not allowed to solicit members at the meeting.  WE WON…SO CAN YOU!

Make sure they don’t do it at your office.  Stand up and be heard. Speak with Boldness!

WINS hides behind skirt of HR

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

This past week, WINS organized and held a budget information meeting at the unemployment office.  There was some budget guy from the state, there, along with a couple of union thugs. After the budget guy showed us the state of the state economy, a union guy got up and started soliciting for members. “We need to organize in our communities and in our offices.”

WINS used a formal budget information format to seek membership.  THIS IS INAPPROPRIATE USE OF GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS!

Then, when a couple of questions were brought up about the union, the questioner was immediately silenced – stepped on, actually, – and we were told to keep the topic on the budget.  Even Glenda Barry, the HR manager, stood up and silenced questions about the union.  So, the union can use “official” meetings, protected by senior state mangers, to solicit members, but questions about the union are not allowed.

Demand that WINS not be allowed to hold these “membership rally” meetings in your building!

Daley: City Managers To Take Nearly Five Weeks Off

Thousands Of City Workers To Take 24 Unpaid Days In 2010

Faced with a $550 million budget deficit, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley on Monday said that all non-union city workers would take nearly five working weeks of unpaid leave next year to save the city money.

Daley announced plans Monday to save $114 million by requiring 3,600 non-union city workers to take 24 unpaid days off, eliminating 220 vacant jobs and cutting expenses like travel and supplies by $20 million.
